You're right. People aren't perfectly symmetric.
But I'm not modifying his artwork because of asymmetries that might as well be intensional.
Most of the SonoHana CGs are totally rushed. Zoom in on a rondom CG and look at the lineart. Check a few more CGs and you'll most likely come to the same conclusion as I did.
He made a quick sketch, vectorized it and started coloring right after that without looking back.
No time to spare for a single correction of proportion or shape.
This is commertial stuff. Porn. Quality doesn't count. Every corner you cut with your current work brings you closer to completion and the next project. And the production companies won't bitch about it because they know people will buy and fap to it anyway.
He draws this stuff for money, not because of his love for the characters or because he wants to create great art.
I've seen a few pieces he drew just for the fun of it and even the sketches looked ten times better than any of his SonoHana works.
But "we" are different, we have a totally different motivation. The translators on this board probably spend more time on debating the wording of a single paragraph than the japanese writers were given for the whole script.
And I think the same goes for what I'm doing with the graphics. For my part I'm absolutely sure he would't care a bit, but still I'm respecting him and the original artworks in that I'm trying to draw as few things from scratch as possible.
When I think a character's forearm is way too short (look at Kaede's? arm at the top of this page, it's missing almost 4") I cut it in many pieces, reposition them and fill in the gaps.
Doing it this way probably takes even more time than simply drawing a new arm. Drawing a few limbs won't kill me, but the more of pekos pixels I manage to keep the better I feel about the result.
Ok, enough with the self-righteous flaming. What am I trying to say.
I love the series, but not for the h-scenes. I'm decensoring the CGs because the mosaic draws my attention and it tells me: this pic is incomplete.
And since drawing their "petals" gives me even less than looking at repro organs drawn by others I try to give meaning to the time I spend on this by correcting the most obvious flaws as I make my way from sceene to scene.
Basicly, I'm having fun in my own way^^.
And in case nothing of what I just said makes any sense: it's late, I'm tired, so pls don't hate me ^^
